THE PIXOTE DREAM
The story of Pixote came to the author in an early morning dream in October 2023, the story, mostly fully formed and quickly written down before the dream faded away into the day.
PIXOTE RESEARCH
Research on the characters and story outline occurred from October 2023 - December 2023.
DAY ONE OF WRITING
The official Pixote book writing began on January 2, 2024 on a cold winter’s day. The first pages of Pixote were written inside a car in a parking lot during freezing weather for about 7 hours. The book took 3 months to initially write.
EDITING PIXOTE
Editing and refining Pixote took 9 months and 32 drafts. In total, Pixote was created between October 2023 to January 2025, 15 months.
NUMEROUS HOT BEVERAGES
Over 100 hot beverages from tea to coffee were consumed in the writing of Pixote, and more than 250 cups during the editing. Creativity requires the ceremonial routine of tea and coffee!
AUDITORY ILLUSIONS
From the very early days of writing, the story began to play out in the author's head as if he were watching or listening to a school play. The characters voices and habits so clear as if they were being performed right in front of him while he wrote what he experienced. It was as if he was in the audience taking notes. The customary student acting errors, missed lines and cues, with the vision of the laughter of an auditorium of parents laughing out loud influenced the writing. From the very first day, this illusion of a play returned every day when Pixote was being written, edited, or read, the play was always there in the mind.

Pixote was released exclusively on Apple Books on February 2, 2025

ALTERNATE TITLE
The book was going to be titled “The Spoiled Prince”, but the author owned the three domains for the word Pixote and thought it would be better if the character had an evolution to a new name while on his journey.
